Sometimes you want a big, restaurant-style burger and sometimes you want a MONSTER burger.
I had never made a stuffed burger before. Honestly? I have never even eaten one. So, these might have been too big, but my husband was thoroughly satisfied.
You could easily grill them but I chose to sear them in a hot cast iron skillet and then place them into the oven.
Toppings are truly your choice, but I cooked bacon, crumbled it, and allowed the bacon to rest on paper towels. Then, I removed all but about two tablespoons of the bacon drippings from the pan, and added chopped mushrooms and onions. Once those were cooked, I placed the bacon back into the pan and kept it warm.

Mushroom and Cheddar Stuffed Monster Burgers
Ingredients
- Ground round
- Baby Portabella mushrooms sliced
- Cheddar cheese block sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Divide beef into equal portions into patties. Salt and pepper on both sides.
- On one patty, make a shallow well and place a piece of cheddar and mushroom in the center.
- Cover with another patty and press to seal.
- Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking. Place patties in the skillet and brown on both sides. Remove skillet from stove top and place in the oven for about 25 minutes (depending on the thickness of your burgers) or until a thermometer reaches an internal temp of 160 degrees.
- Serve on buns with your choice of toppings.
WOW! Definitely a Man-Sized Sandwich huh? My hubby would love these and I will try them soon. Thanks for sharing.
